Auschwitsz was located in the town Oswiecim, poland and was the final destination on a train stop that lead to the nazis "final solution". Upon arrival prisoners walked under an arch that read "Arbeit Macht Frei" which is german for work will give you freedom. Assuring the prisoners false hope that with hard work they will be set free. The prisoners were divided into twenty eight buildings depending on their race, sexual orientation or gender. The prisoners would be woken up just befor dawn and were forced to make their beds, if they were not to standard they were beaten. Then they were forced to stand outside in the wet and cold for hours while roll call was done. often prisoners who were weak would pass out or even die in the line. Then they would receive their daily rations of food. Often the portions of food were disigned to give the prisoners just enough energy to stay alive. Work days were often eleven or twelve hour shifts. Then they were to head back to the barracks to live in the diseased and close quarter conditions. The nazis found it more effitient to stack the thousands of bodies rather than burrie each one individualy, so the prisoners were constantly surrounded by the smell, sight and sound of death.
